I have found the most difficult thing to do is keeping each model shoot different from the last in terms of locations and poses. The technical knowledge also needs to be kept up-to-date but making each shoot different to the last one means coming up with fresh poses, locations, ideas, clothing, which I do supply some of and creating moods that allow the model to explode with their own talent.
